Mental Health First Aid - 2 Days

2 Day MHFA course

During our two-day Supervising First Aid for Mental Health course, attendees will gain comprehensive knowledge and skills to effectively supervise and support mental health first aiders in the workplace. Here’s what participants can expect to learn and take away from the training:

Understanding Mental Health:

Attendees will deepen their understanding of mental health, including common mental health conditions, their causes, and their impact on individuals’ lives. They will explore the importance of mental health awareness and the role of supervision in creating supportive environments.

Supervisory Skills:

Participants will develop essential supervisory skills tailored to mental health first aid, including effective communication, active listening, providing constructive feedback, and managing challenging situations. They will learn how to support and empower mental health first aiders in their roles.

Role of Mental Health First Aiders:

Attendees will learn about the responsibilities and boundaries of mental health first aiders, including confidentiality, duty of care, and the importance of ongoing self-care and professional development. They will understand the role of mental health first aiders in promoting early intervention and providing support to colleagues experiencing mental health challenges.

Risk Assessment and Crisis Management:

Participants will learn how to conduct risk assessments related to mental health concerns in the workplace and develop crisis management plans to respond effectively to emergencies or escalating situations. They will explore strategies for de-escalating crises and accessing additional support when needed.

Supporting Positive Mental Health Culture:

Attendees will learn how to promote a positive mental health culture within their organisation, including strategies for reducing stigma, fostering open communication, and implementing policies and practices that prioritise employee well-being. They will understand the role of supervision in creating psychologically safe workplaces where mental health is valued and supported.

Legal and Ethical Considerations:

Participants will gain an understanding of the legal and ethical considerations associated with mental health first aid and supervision, including confidentiality, data protection, and duty of care. They will learn how to navigate complex situations while upholding professional standards and legal obligations.
