Mental Health First Aid - 1 Day

MHFA 1 Day Course

During our one-day Mental Health First Aid course, attendees will acquire valuable knowledge and skills to effectively support individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Here’s what participants can expect to learn and take away from the training:

Recognition of Mental Health Conditions:

Attendees will learn how to recognise a range of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Through interactive discussions and case studies, participants will gain insight into the signs and symptoms associated with each condition, enabling them to identify when someone may be experiencing distress.

First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan:

Participants will be introduced to the Mental Health First Aid action plan, a practical framework for providing initial support to individuals in crisis. They will learn how to assess the situation, listen non-judgmentally, provide reassurance, and encourage appropriate professional help-seeking behaviours.

Impact of Substance Abuse on Mental Health:

Attendees will explore the complex relationship between substance abuse and mental health, gaining an understanding of how substance use can exacerbate or mask underlying mental health issues. They will learn to recognise signs of substance abuse and understand the importance of addressing both mental health and substance use concerns simultaneously.

Promotion of Positive Mental Health Culture:

Participants will learn strategies for promoting a positive mental health culture in the workplace, including de-stigmatising conversations about mental health, fostering supportive environments, and implementing policies and practices that prioritise employee well-being.

Understanding Mental Health Disorders and Professional Support:

Attendees will gain insight into various mental health disorders, their causes, and their impacts on individuals’ lives. They will also learn about the range of support and therapy options available from healthcare professionals, including counselling, medication, and community resources.

By the end of the course, participants will leave equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to recognise and respond effectively to mental health challenges, both in the workplace and beyond. They will play a vital role in promoting mental well-being, reducing stigma, and fostering supportive environments where individuals feel valued and supported.
